Asian Americans Attacked Because of COVID-19 Racism & Xenophobia
I am compiling as many stories and videos here that show racism and xenophobia towards Asian-Americans or Asians in other countries who have been discriminated upon related to the COVID-19/Corona Virus. I want to bring awareness to this because many of these stories go unnoticed.
Mar. 18, 2020 — Trump calls COVID-19 “Chinese Virus”
President Trump and many others refer to COVID-19 as the “Chinese Virus” because of it’s origin. Many shrug it off saying “Well, it’s true”. The main problem is that it only fuels the ignorant, racist, and xenophobic people who use it as an excuse to verbally and physically attack innocent Asians (NOT only Chinese Americans)
Feb. 4, 2020 — Asian Man Attacked in San Francisco in Possible Hate Crime (San Francisco, CA)
This incident might not have had anything to do with the Coronavirus, but it is disturbing nonetheless. It is one of the first notable attacks towards Asian Americans this year, before the Coronavirus racism started to be more widespread.
